Bucharest has always known how to build around an empty centre. The city's finest architecture never displayed its wealth toward the street — it reserved it for within. The inner courtyard of Vila Tătărescu is a faithful expression of this tradition — a space of 800 square metres, configured in a U-shape, which the building embraces on three sides and shields from uninvited eyes.
The Geometry of a Protected Space
The U-shaped courtyard creates a space with a surprisingly natural acoustic, where conversations remain on a human scale. The space can be organised into distinct zones — cocktail reception at the entrance, dining in the centre, music toward the far end — without them overlapping. The 150 guests it can accommodate are not crowded, but distributed with ease.
The Courtyard Season — March to October
Art + concept — the best open-air events are not those that fight nature, but those that let it become the backdrop.
The inner courtyard is used from March to October, weather permitting, and in these months the greenery and natural light give it a texture no indoor hall can match. The EKO GROUP team can configure the courtyard with outdoor furniture, decorative lighting, a discreet audio system, and catering in any format you wish. The courtyard furniture belongs to the house and is not charged separately. For a seated dinner, the courtyard takes up to 40 guests; music in the open air is possible until 22:00, and if it rains, the event moves into the ground-floor salons.
The Courtyard and the Interior — an Event in Two Acts
One of the most appreciated configurations combines the courtyard with the main salon: welcome cocktail in the courtyard, followed by dinner in the salon — or vice versa. Whatever formula you choose, the inner courtyard remains the villa's element of surprise — the space guests do not anticipate and, invariably, do not forget.
The 800 sqm courtyard is the largest space in the house: up to 150 people.
